VOLUNTEER FOR A CHARITY WALK
In 2010, Little Drummers raised almost $350.00 towards Alzheimer's research in the Alzheimer's Association's Memory Walk!

HOLIDAYS FOR THE HOMELESS

Throughout the school year, Little Drummers keeps a collection jar in the hallway.  Students, staff and visitors are welcome to contribute at any time.

The week before Thanksgiving, the Math classes count and sort all of the donations.  The money is then given to a local rescue mission to provide Thanksgiving dinners to homeless people on Thanksgiving.

SWEETS FOR SENIORS

Visit your local senior centre or elderly care group with some homemade goodies.  Little Drummers visited the local Supportive Day Program for Alzheimer's patients up until it closed in 2012.

*Please be sure to offer sugar-free and gluten free options, as well as standard recipes, for seniors with dietary restrictions!

HELP OUT THE ANIMALS

Hold a donations drive for a local animal shelter, they are almost always in need of food and supplies!
This is also a great birthday party idea in lieu of gifts.
For more information, go to:

CHEMO CARE PACKAGES
Host a donations drive and put together Chemo Care Packages.  Deliver them to the local oncology units!

CELEBRATE PEACE
The International Day of Peace
(or World Peace Day) is celebrated every year on September 21.  Have your group make a Peace Collage and dicsuss what peace is and ways to promote it within your community!

HELP BELIEVE
For every stamped letter to Santa recieved in their in-store mailboxes,
Macy's will donate $1.00 to the Make-A-Wish foundation, a group that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Why not start up a dropbox at your school and encourage kids to write!

START A RECYCLING BRIGADE
Join up with groups like TerraCycle to reduce waste in your school or community.  Use the money you raise to give back to the community!  For more information, please check out:

Every other year, Little Drummers goes door-to-door with the other trick or treaters, but we are collecting spare change instead of candy!

HOST A CLOTHING DRIVE

Little Drummers has hosted clothing drives for a local homeless shelter and a veterans outreach group. Clothing drives are usually held every other year, due to our small community.

ROADSIDE CLEAN-UP
Pick a road, bike trail, park or playground near your house or school and spend some time cleaning it up!  Make sure you bring rubber gloves, garbage bags and that you have a grown-up with you!

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS

Make up some Random Acts of Kindness cards.  When you commit an act of kindness, leave behind a card to encourage the next person to pay it forward. Our favourite is to pay for a stranger's dinner while out at a restaurant.

PLANT A BEE GARDEN
Help save our bees! Plant a flower garden at your school or organization.  Choose flowers that the bees will like!

THANK A VETERAN
Send some friendly letters,
thanking veterans for their service.
Send your letter to a local veteran's organization, or to the people at

CARING CRAFTS
Learn to knit or crochet (or ask a grown-up for help) soft hats for people undergoing chemotherapy.  These are great to add to the
Chemo Care Packages!

CREATE A BIRDHOUSE GARDEN
Brighten up your school or community with some hand painted bird houses.  Add a bird bath in the summer and bird-feeders in the winter to build your on mini Bird "Sanctuary".
